If you’re a fan of graphic novels and you are a handy illustrator and designer then this is the competition for you!

Last year we introduced the interactive writing competition and this was so successful we decided to introduce a graphic novel version as well.

Dylan Horrocks, well known New Zealand comic artist and writer, has created the first 4 frames of a graphic novel and it is up to you to carry on the story and be in with a chance to win yourself a great prize - a pack of books and graphic novels (kindly donated by Graphic in Cuba Mall, Wellington).

Details of competition:

  • The competition runs for 4 weeks, from Monday 20th July and will close on Friday 14th August.
  • On Monday each week you need to read the story so far in your age category and decide what should happen next.
  • Illustrate the next 4 frames of the story and upload to the site
  • Your images should be saved as jpegs or gifs as RGB files and the filename should not include spaces or special  characters
  • You must upload your images to the Library Week website by 9am each Monday morning.
  • A winner will be chosen each Monday morning and their work will be made a permanent part of the story. All other entries will be removed from the site.
  • There are two age categories for this competition, 13 – 18 yrs and 19 yrs +.
