Living Heritage Day will be celebrated on Thursday 19th August 2010 as part of the Library Week celebrations.

Living Heritage is an online bilingual (Māori-English) initiative that enables New Zealand schools to develop and publish an online resource, based on a heritage treasure in their community.

Living Heritage enables our young people to be storytellers in their own language, creating websites which preserve New Zealand history and culture in a digital form for future generations.

On Living Heritage Day public libraries around New Zealand will team up with local schools to celebrate our culture and heritage, by showcasing schools stories and sharing learning journeys.

Contact your public library to find out what they have planned for Living Heritage Day.
